PINS Project

Partnership for Inclusion of Neurodiversity in Schools (PINS) is a programme funded and delivered by the Department for Education (DfE), NHS England (NHSE) and the Department for Health and Social Care (DHSC), with the aim of bringing health and educational specialists and expert parent carers intro mainstream primary settings:

  • help shape whole school SEND provision
  • provide early interventions at a school level
  • upskill school staff
  • support and strengthen partnerships between schools and parent carers
  • support and strengthen partnerships between PCF’s and ICB’s

The aim of the programme will leave a sustainable impact, building a legacy or closer collaboration between schools, parent carers, education and health professionals.  Project teams will work collaboratively across professional boundaries, developing the capacity of schools to facilitate the best outcomes for children and young people who are neurodiverse.

There are 20 schools taking part in the PINS project as detailed below:

  • Bankfields Primary School
  • Caedmon Primary School
  • Chaloner Primary School
  • Errington Primary School
  • Galley Hill Primary School
  • Green Gates Primary School

  • Hummersea Primary School
  • Normanby Primary School
  • Nunthorpe Primary School
  • Ormesby Primary School
  • St Bedes Catholic Primary School
  • St Gabriels Catholic Primary School
  • St Josephs Catholic Primary School

In Year 1 we focused on upskilling primary school staff with training and workshops delivered by professionals from education, health and other service providers such as Daisy Chain. These sessions were held either in person or via teams and schools were provided with resources and training materials to keep which could then be implemented into their school.  Training and resources could also be saved to ensure future employees to the schools could access this training.

In Year 2 we are focusing on implementing this training and ensuring schools are putting their training and resources to good use.  We will also be recruiting parent representatives in each school to ensure the project is sustainable long term.

Look out for our posters advertised around your child’s schools and in newsletters detailing the dates and times of our visits, and please pop along to find out more.
